Another favorite topics of mine during my government class was "Duties and Responsibilities of citizenship".  First of all a citizen is an individual whose allegiance belongs to the nation for example I'm a citizen. Citizenship is based on a combination of rights, duties and responsibilities. Duties are the requirements that citizens have to do such as obey the law, pay taxes, jury duty, attend school etc. The civic responsibilities is being informed, speak up and vote, respect other's rights and lastly is contribute to the common good.Obeying the law prevents accidents and can help the citizen, paying taxes maintains the armed forces. Attending school is required by states to students up to the age of 16.Being informed is being aware of your rights and having you opinion, speaking up and vote is making your concerns known. Guiding Themes of the Constitution

In my government class I learned about the six guiding themes of the constitution which are, popular sovereignty, limited government, separation of power, checks and balances, judicial review and federalism. Legislative which is congress and house of representatives. Lastly Judicial which is the supreme court. Checks and balances has to do with the above each branch has different powers and can keep each other in check. Judicial review ...

Favorite moment as a senior

Prom and beach day have been my favorite moments of my senior year so far. I think my favorite will be graduation, Prom was lit I was able to spend time with all my friends, we arrived in a party bus which was fun. I had been waiting for from since my freshman year the time I waited was longer than the actual prom itself. I had fun dancing, taking pictures and eating. Even though I had way more fun at the after party. Beach day was also a favorite moment my advisory had a carne asada. I spent time with my friends. The worst part of beach day was that I got so a sunburned and until now it still hurts.

Electoral College

Throughout my first semester of my senior year in high school I learned about the electoral college I did not know about before. This topic was and will forever be my favorite topic. I learned about the electors which are the people chosen by political parties/state to vote for presidential elections for major candidates 538 electors . Popular votes are the votes cast by general public counting basically the number of votes obtained nationally for each candidates. It is possible for a candidate to lose popular vote and still become president. Lastly the electoral college is the group of electors from each state that indirectly select the president and vice president. But how do the candidates win ? Winner-take- all system is when the candidate who win the majority of the popular vote in the state wins all of the electoral vote from that state. 270 votes is required to become president.      The importance of understanding how the electora...
